Here in Idaho

Here are three quick facts that you didn’t know about me:

1. I was illiterate until about two weeks ago.
2. Around Sandpoint I’m known as ‘Miss Bojangles.’
3. I am a card carrying member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

And as a card carrying member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, I have to stay on the cutting edge of all the ‘hot’ records and LPs, in order to carry out the Grammy’s ‘phat’ tradition of honoring the ’slamminest’ ‘jams’ of the ‘yearzle.’

I admit, I have heard of SOME of the artists. But seriously, who the hell are these people?
And the polka category, I have to say, has been dominated by some poor Canadian for a long time. Or at least it was. Maybe he died. I dunno. I don’t listen to polka. Honestly.

Is it wrong that I think that practically every album nominated this year completely SUCKED? And there were so many GOOD, and yet undiscovered albums out there. bah. Bah on the stupid commericial grammy ughfest.

Good morning. I’d like to speak with you about Herbie Hancock winning Album of the Year…for a Joni Mitchell covers record. Who do I send my hate mail to?

Hey! Some of us 80’s old folks like Herbie Hancock. I’m cool like that.

But Herbie doing Joni? I dunno ’bout that one.

I do know as I watched all these freakin’ “artists” walking the red carpet I realized I am very old. I don’t mind cuz that means NOT listening to current rap songs with my teenagers.

“Hey! Some of us 80’s old folks like Herbie Hancock.”

Um, I was born in 1976. I remember that creepy as “Rockit” video like everybody else. I had “Future Shock” on vinyl even. He still didn’t deserve to win though. And neither did Daughtry, thank God he didn’t!

I am also someone who does not buy music. But a few weeks ago and rushed to Waterloo Records and purchased a CD, based on the end of a song I heard on Eklektikos (have you discoverd John Aielli on KUT.org? I think you can stream his show every morning).

The band is called The Aliens and they are from the UK. The album is astronomy for dogs. You may love it. Tread slowly.
